Boy’s Basketball Team Volunteers at Ronald McDonald House

On Friday, December 30, 2016, members of the CCHS boy’s varsity basketball team traveled to Danville to volunteer for several hours at the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a facility where families can stay for free while their seriously-ill children receive long-term treatment at Geisinger Medical Center. Mrs. Christina Lehman, program assistant, laid out the tasks that needed to be accomplished by the team. While there, the boys prepared a meal of tacos for the approximately 40 guests. A number of the players’ parents prepared and sent along homemade cookies and desserts for the guests. The tasks that the boys performed included: cleaning the lettuce, cutting up tomatoes, browning the ground beef, baking the taco shells, and setting out all of the food. Upon completion of the meal, the boys cleaned up the kitchen and assisted the staff by moving Christmas decorations from the main building into a storage shed. Mrs. Lehman also guided the members of the team on a tour of the facility and explained the purpose of the Ronald McDonald House. After the tour, the team presented Mrs. Lehman with a monetary donation that had been collected in advance of the visit. The team would like to thank Mrs. Stacey Brunozzi and Mrs. Ronna Aucker for organizing this event.
